About

I am a San Francisco artist and resident since 2017. I learned how to draw and paint by practicing weekly with a cohort of artists and elder queers in the Castro District of San Francisco at Thomasina DeMaio’s ArtSavesLives gallery. I work predominately with Oil on Canvas and Digital Art created in Procreate for the iPad Pro printed on various mediums. Much of my artwork is dedicated to amplifying queerness. With my iPad in tow for digital sketching, I endeavor to capture moments of queer nightlife events, kink events, and other happenings in the SF Bay Area and beyond.

My work often falls somewhere between abstracted figurative and impressionism. I like to blend perspectives and shapes, colors and energies, orientations and emotions. While I create, I consider how far away from an accurate representation of the image in mind I can go while still capturing a recognizable element of its origin.

I like to give shape to light, assigning color palettes to orientation, perspective, depth, atmosphere, detail, shape, and so on. I blend and merge those aspects to simultaneously cause abstraction and materialization – to stimulate a thought and to create the space for interpretation.

A portion of my artwork is also dedicated to an exploration of male intimacy via men I have encountered by way of romance, casual exploration, love, and friendship - an abstract display of private thoughts, feelings, and desires inspired by the beauty of other gay men.
